Where do your donations to SmallCanBeBig go?

In response to the recent NYTimes article “Confusion Where Money Lent via Kiva Goes” we thought we would be clear with our generous supporters about where your donations to SmallCanBeBig.org go once you click the donate button.

All donations… by all we mean 100% of every dollar donated… goes immediately into the charities bank account. (No transaction fees, no overhead, no admin… 100% of every dollar). Once the need is completely met the charities then directly pay the expense or the need which is typically a rent check to the landlord or electricity bill to the utility company.

If a need is not met in time, we tap into a grant we have received from two private family foundations to fill the gap. Needs usually average about $1,200. In most cases, families are on the site for about a month and typically their needs are met in that time period.

Since launching in January, 1,103 donors have donated about $75,000 and directly helped 79 families and 173 kids avoid homelessness. That’s BIG.

On behalf of all the families on SmallCanBeBig THANK YOU!!!
